WHAT DOES DEEP-SLEEP CONTAIN?
Magnesium Glycinate
Magnesium promotes muscle relaxation, regulates stress hormones, enhances the activity of calming neurotransmitters like GABA, promoting melatonin production, and ultimately improving overall sleep quality. Magnesium is a must have in any natural sleep aid formula.
Calcium Carbonate
Calcium can improve sleep by aiding in the regulation of melatonin production, promoting relaxation, and supporting neurotransmitter function. Calcium plays a crucial role in the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin, a precursor to melatonin, the hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Additionally, calcium helps activate enzymes involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters like GABA, which promotes feelings of relaxation and calmness.
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 can improve sleep by facilitating the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in regulating mood and sleep. Additionally, vitamin B6 is involved in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter GABA.
5-Hydroxy Trytophan
5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and sleep patterns. Once ingested, 5-HTP is converted into serotonin in the brain, which plays a crucial role in initiating and maintaining sleep. By increasing serotonin levels, 5-HTP supplementation promotes relaxation, reduces the time it takes to fall asleep, and enhances overall sleep quality.
Valerian
Valerian has a calming and sedative effect on the nervous system. Valerian root contains compounds such as valerenic acid and valeramide, which enhance the activity of GABA. By increasing GABA levels in the brain, valerian can help alleviate stress and quiet the mind, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.
Wolfberry
Wolfberry is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and E, as well as various B vitamins and minerals like zinc and iron. These nutrients support overall health and well-being, contributing to a balanced physiological state conducive to restful sleep. Additionally, wolfberry contains polysaccharides and other compounds that have been linked to stress reduction, improved mood, and enhanced relaxation, all of which are essential for promoting a good night’s sleep.
Lemon Balm
Lemon balm, a member of the mint family, contains rosmarinic acid and flavonoids that have been shown to modulate neurotransmitter activity, including GABA. Additionally, lemon balm has been traditionally used as a mild sedative and sleep aid, with studies showing it can reduce insomnia symptoms and improve sleep quality.
Chamomile
Chamomile contains apigenin, which binds to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. By increasing levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, chamomile can help ease stress and tension, making it easier to unwind and prepare for sleep.
Passionflower
Passionflower contains flavonoids such as chrysin and benzoflavone, which have been shown to bind to receptors in the brain associated with anxiety and stress. By modulating neurotransmitter activity, particularly GABA, passionflower can induce a state of relaxation and tranquillity, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night.
Hops Flower
Hops contains xanthohumol and myrcenol, which have been shown to have sedative properties and bind to receptors in the brain associated with sleep regulation increasing the activity of the neurotransmitter GABA.
Skullcap
Skullcap contains the flavonoids baicalin and baicalein, which have been shown to modulate neurotransmitter activity, particularly GABA. Skullcap has been traditionally used as a natural remedy for insomnia and sleep disturbances, with research showing helps improve sleep duration and reduce the time it takes to fall asleep
L-Theanine
Theanine is an amino acid found primarily in tea leaves, particularly green tea, known for its calming effects on the nervous system. By increasing levels of neurotransmitters like GABA and serotonin in the brain, theanine can induce a state of relaxation, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep throughout the night. Additionally, theanine has been shown to have a modulating effect on brain waves, promoting alpha wave activity associated with wakeful relaxation.
Ashwaghanda
Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, contains bioactive compounds like withanolides that have been shown to reduce cortisol levels, the primary stress hormone. By lowering cortisol levels, ashwagandha can help alleviate stress and anxiety, which are common contributors to sleep disturbances.
Holy Basil
Holy basil, also known as Tulsi, is an adaptogenic herb with a long history of use in traditional medicine for its stress-relieving properties. Compounds found in holy basil, such as eugenol and rosmarinic acid, have been shown to lower cortisol levels, the primary stress hormone, which can contribute to better sleep quality by reducing hyperarousal and promoting a sense of calmness.
